Sometimes You're the Windshield, Sometimes You're the Bug

Well, we could tell a few stories and indulge you in details that may or may not be of interest. Instead, we are going the simple route. Tom crashed out in turn one of the first lap (again), Terry came from way back in the pack, fought for a top five but crashed out with two laps to go. Jody ran competitively and broke the clutch line during a spin. Three cars, three DNF's. No season ending damage so we will make repairs and be back in two weeks.

On the good news side, Kris Hillegeer won the Super Six event and you have to go see the pics on RaceNewYork from victory lane. All I can say is they are too cute for words.

This week Terry & Kris will be at Spencer Speedway for the ROC 100 qualifier. Terry will wheel the #50 ROC Mod for Tom and Kriss will pilot Terry's #11. Tom, John and Donna will be absent as they celebrate the wedding of their son Daniel to Adelle Moore. In two weeks, Jody will be at Dunn Tire Raceway Park, Lancaster, to race in the 75 lap SST Modified special.

To take the sting off last week's results, enjoy this video of Dire Straits - YouTube. See you soon.

Victory at Last!

Some good advice, good fortune and some good driving gives the Epic Ventures team their first weekly modified victory at Spencer Speedway! We showed up that evening with an uneasy confidence that recent chassis changes were finally going to pay off. With advance help from Troyer Race cars guru Bob Mueller, and modified driver Chuck Hossfeld, plus race day thoughts from veteran Wilbur Hebing, we now had a car ready to capitalize on Terry's outside row two starting spot. After taking the lead the team nervously watched as Terry fought off the hard challenges of Buck Catalano and Andy Jankowiak. A late race caution gave the crew an uneasy feeling having been in this position before only to come up short. But on this Friday, Terry had enough to take home the victory. After the on track celebration completed, the pit side congratulations continued from family friends, fans and fellow competitors.

Mid July Progress Report (EV is working hard and learning to play well with others)

Let's recap the last couple weeks and take a look at how the season is progressing for our team and our friends.

Team owner Tom Fecteau was given a pleasant surprise when shortly before the July 4th double features race he was informed by 2007 Mechanic of the Year Doug Cheetham and his son Terry that the yellow #50 SST Mod was ready to race. This would be Tom's first trip back behind the wheel in 2008. Tom decided to "buy in" to the rained out feature from June for the #5 & #50 and was rewarded with a 5th for Terry and a 18th for Tom who ran out of gas with 3 laps to go. Yes  ....
